These rules have been amended for clarification |

All horses & riders stabled &/or registered in Kent, East Sussex, West Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire, Berkshire and Essex are eligible and can accumulate points, as per Rules 2-7, but only at the qualifying events in the South East Eventers League Championship.

Leading Horse & Rider and Owner-Rider: points will be awarded to 6th at all qualifying events, irrespective of section starters, on B.E placing points from Novice sections upwards. Placing points as B.E. for Advanced, CIC** & CCI** count down to 10th. Double clears do not score. Open Novice: horses will only score points if Grade 3 or 4. Intermediate-Novice & INU21: points will be awarded as for novice. Note that under B.E. rules INU21 sections are open to Grade 1 horses.

GRASSROOTS - BE100 (Pre-Novices), BE90 (Intros), Overall Grassroots, Veterans and Newcomers (First Timers):
points will be awarded to the top 10 in all BE100 & BE90 at all qualifying events, irrespective of starters – 10 points for 1st, 9 for 2nd, 8 for 3rd, 7 for 4th, 6 for 5th and so on down to 10th.
Horses with BE points may continue to add their points from any BE100 Open or BE90 Open placings at SEEL qualifiers BUT points will be awarded – 6 for 1st to 1 for 6th.
Grassroots rankings are not open to riders who have ridden at advanced level in the last five years or been in the BE Top 100 during the last three seasons up until start of current BE season. |

Ex-racehorses must be registered thoroughbreds and have been in training. Passports or other documents from a recognised racing authority will have to be produced by prize-winners. |

JRN & JON:
Grade 3 & 4 horses receive novice points to 6th.
Grade 2 (& 1) receive 1st place 4 points, 2nd place 3 points, 3rd place 2 points, 4th to 6th 1 point.
Under 21 riders in BE100 sections incl BE100JR: 1st place 4 points, 2nd place 3 points, 3rd place 2 points, 4th to 6th 1 point. |

Six-year-olds: Special SEEL points will be awarded for BE100 (Pre-novice) upwards, as follow: 6 points for 1st, 5 points for 2nd, down to 1 point for 6th, for all classes which will be carried forward when they upgrade. Horses receive points even where rider is not qualified for Grassroots.

Novice ranking: Points as per Rule 2. This ranking is restricted to riders who have NOT ridden advanced in the last five years or been in the B.E. Top 100 during the last three seasons up until start of current BE season. Horses must have started the season with five or less B.E.points. Points will be carried forward when horses upgrade.

Intermediate ranking: This ranking is restricted to horses that have started the season with less than 30 B.E. points but based only on accumulated points from intermediate, Open Intermediate, Advanced Intermediate (plus Junior & Young Rider equivalent) and CIC** sections at SEEL qualifiers. Points as per Rule 2. |

Veteran Rider ranking: A veteran rider is defined as being over 40 at the beginning of the BE season.

Under 21 ranking: An Under 21 rider is defined as being Under 21 at the beginning of the BE season.

Newcomer (First Timer) ranking: A Newcomer is defined as a rider who has never competed at a BE event, even on a Day Ticket.

Each combination must remain the same throughout the season although change of rider is acceptable in certain cases, for instance because of injury, but not where a rider is substituted to gain points. |

Any combination becoming eligible during the season will only score points from when they became eligible. Any combination moving out of the area will only score points until that moment.

Ties for placings will be decided by ‘consistency points’ with all first places scoring 10, all seconds 9 and so on to 1 for tenth. If two or more riders & horses remain tied, the relevant prize monies will be added together and divided equally between those riders & horses.

In line with B.E events & B.E. Rule 3.16, all prizes must be received in person at the SEEL Awards by the Rider or Owner of the winning horse. The SEEL Committee will permit a deputy to receive the prize. If not received in accordance with this rule, the Committee may declare the prize forfeit. |

The League Committee reserves the right to refuse or disqualify any entry, and to interpret the rules to ensure the efficient & fair running of the League within the Objectives & Priorities of British Eventing.
